SkyNews Photo of the Week: Submit your photo

Contest basics and prizes

Here’s how it works:

1. Enter your image (or images) into the contest.
2. We select the best submissions and publish a new photo every week. Weekly winners are eligible for our annual Readers’ Choice event.
3. The year’s finest photos and honourable mentions will be published in the September/October 2023 issue of SkyNews.

To be eligible to win in the 2022/23 Photo of the Year contest, submissions must be received by May 3, 2023. You may enter as often as you wish, but please don’t send more than 5 of your best photos per entry.

This contest is open to residents of Canada only.

Rules and instructions

Images should be in JPEG format, at least 2,400 pixels wide, and should not have text (such as labels, copyright notices, or other information) imprinted on them.

Some composites (for example, those with foregrounds shot from a different location and/or date than the sky portion) are not eligible; however, nightscape images and photos consisting of stitched mosaics and panoramas are allowed.

All images must be captured using equipment you personally set up and operated, in Canada.

Do not submit the same photo week after week, otherwise your photo will be disqualified.

There are no entry fees. Photos submitted to SkyNews for this contest, including those not published, are automatically eligible for the Photo of the Year. Do not resubmit photos already sent.

You can enter your photograph using the form below, or send it by e-mail to photo@skynews.ca. Be sure to include your name, contact details, camera, lens, focal ratio, exposure time, location, date, and a description of the object.
