Photo of the Week for November 24, 2017

Always have a camera with you. Follow that simple rule and you’ll never miss a photo opportunity. These days most people carry a perfectly decent camera with them everywhere in the form of a mobile phone, as demonstrated by this opportunistic shot of sundogs by Julie An Caduhada. She captured the scene on November 19, 2017, from Whitehorse, Yukon, through a car windshield with her Samsung Galaxy S6 edge phone.

Sundogs are a member of a whole family of phenomena resulting from sunlight refracted by ice crystals in the atmosphere. Julie’s photo shows an unusually bright example of the classic configuration featuring one “dog” on each side of the Sun.
