Photo of the Week for November 7, 2014
As the chill of late autumn settles in, summer may seem like a distant memory. Richard Bloch‘s fine image of the Lagoon Nebula (M8) and its neighbour to the north, the Trifid Nebula (M20), provides a welcome reminder of warm evenings spent viewing (and imaging) the Sagittarius Milky Way.
Richard captured this photo last July near Kingston, Ontario. He used a modified Canon EOS Rebel T3i DSLR camera mounted to a Sky-Watcher 80mm f/7.5 refractor telescope to acquire 22, 10-minute exposures at ISO 1600. The individual frames were combined into this single image with PixInsight software.
