Michel Samson of Quebec City, Quebec, recently submitted his first image to SkyNews — this shot showing star trails over his cottage observatory. The building’s fibreglass dome is illuminated by interior red lights. Michael used his Nikon D300 DSLR camera at ISO 800, and a zoom lens set to 24mm focal length at f/2.8. He combined 300, 30-second exposures with StarStaX software to create his final image.
