Photo of the Week for September 23, 2016

Most of the images we showcase here portray the splendours of the night sky, but every once in a while we like to present a picture that provides a sense of what recreational astronomy is all about. Toronto, Ontario, photographer Randy Hoffmann’s self-portrait does a nice job of that. The red-light illumination, treed surroundings and Milky Way overhead effectively convey the essence of an enjoyable night under the stars with a telescope.
