Photo of the Week for December 27, 2013
Like Andrew Kwon’s image from last week, Philippe Moussette also managed to capture an aurora at the beginning of December. Photographing the northern lights is relatively easy once you have fixed it to a camera tripod. Use a wide-angle lens set to f3.5 or lower and take a 15 to 30-second exposure using ISO 800 or 1000. Photos of constellations can also be taken this way. Philippe used a Canon 1DX DSLR camera and a 24mm lens operating at f/2.8 to take this image from Lac St. Joeseph, Quebec.
