Photo of the Week for September 6, 2013

A visitor to the Lennox & Addington (L&A) Dark Sky Viewing Area on August 10, 2013, tries to position his finger on the core of our home galaxy, the Milky Way, where a four-million-solar-mass black hole resides (he’s close; hard to be exact in the dark). Photo by SkyNews editor Terence Dickinson, a 15-second exposure at f/2.8 and ISO 8000 (not a typo—that’s eight thousand), with a 24mm lens on a Hutech-modified Canon 6D. The L&A Dark Sky Viewing Area is open to the public without charge every night of the year. For more information, see www.darkskyviewing.com
