Photo of the Week for February 2, 2018
The much publicized January 31 total lunar eclipse was widely viewed despite the season’s typically unfavourable weather. At SkyNews we received reports from observers scattered across Western Canada from Vancouver Island and mainland British Columbia, eastward to Saskatchewan. One of the most appealing images was this eclipse sequence by Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, photographer Tim Yaworski. The striking structure in the foreground is the Borden Bridge, located on the Yellowhead Highway, west of Saskatoon. The concrete span was built in 1936 and decommissioned in 1985, when it was replaced by a new bridge, a portion of which appears on the right edge of the frame.
Tim’s eclipse composite was captured using a Fujifilm X-E2 camera and 10-24mm f/4 zoom lens, set to 17mm.
