Photo of the Week for December 9, 2016
One of the most iconic locations in the Canadian Rockies is Lake Louise, in Banff National Park. Countless photographs have been made from this very spot in front of the Château Lake Louise, but the one presented here, taken by Ray Wiens does a particularly nice job of capturing the serene beauty of the lake at night. The bright light just above the mountain ridge is the Moon, while traces of the summer Milky Way can be seen on the right side of the image.

Ray photographed the scene on November 8, 2016, with a Sony α7R II full-frame digital camera set to ISO 3200 for a 5-second exposure with a 14mm lens at f/2.8.
