Photo of the Week for May 19, 2017

A full Moon is a reliably lovely naked-eye sight, particularly as it rises or sets. This atmospheric shot was captured on April 11, 2017, by Windsor, Ontario, photographer Gerry Kaiser. It shows the Moon setting over the Detroit river with Windsor on the left and Detroit, Michigan, on the right. “The morning was beautiful and I’m glad I ventured out,” Gerry writes. “I almost didn’t because the full Moon kept me awake half the night—but once I arrived, it was pure magic!”

Gerry used a Canon EOS 5D Mark III camera and Canon 100-400mm zoom lens set to 100mm and f/6.3 for this 1/80-second exposure at ISO 400.
