Photo of the Week for July 29, 2013
Canada is one of the world’s best places to experience the aurora borealis, or northern lights. In our nation’s vast arctic region, Yellowknife in the Northwest Territory is the aurora capital for astronomy enthusiasts who travel to see the phenomenon.
Marty Cogswell of Camlachie, Ontario was recently in Yellowknife and captured this stunning image of an aurora at 1:30 a.m. local time on April 6, 2013. He used an 8mm lens attached to his Nikon D7000 for a 20-second exposure at f4 at ISO 2500.
