Celestron 7” Maksutov-Cassegrain OTA
Built with a large aperture and long focal length, the Celestron 7″ Maksutov-Cassegrain Optical Tube Assembly is a powerful astronomical tool that remains manageable and portable.
The Maksutov design exchanges the conventional front corrector plate of a Schmidt with a convex meniscus lens, resulting in a smaller secondary mirror that limits obstruction and increases contrast while eliminating the need for periodic collimation. This modified optical path results in a slower focal ratio and narrower field of view versus a similar Schmidt, but the optical benefits, when coupled with the larger aperture and StarBright XLT coating system, make this an ideal scope for making detailed solar, lunar, and planetary observations, while being able to resolve deep-sky objects like stars, clusters, galaxies and nebulae.
Celestron envisions a global community where everyone can explore and learn more about the Universe. For more than 60 years, the California-based company has been the world’s most recognized telescope brand and the provider of premier consumer astronomy products. Celestron’s name has become synonymous with superior optics and innovative technology, just as its iconic “orange tube” telescopes have become ubiquitous at any public stargazing event. Celestron telescopes have deployed aboard the International Space Station and assisted in tracking hazardous space junk from earthbound observatories. As part of our mission, Celestron is a major supporter of astronomy and STEM-related nonprofits in North America and worldwide. Learn more about Celestron at www.celestron.com.
