International IYA 2009
The International Year of Astronomy 2009 is a global effort initiated by the International Astronomical Union and UNESCO to help the citizens of the world rediscover their place in the Universe through the day- and night-time sky, and thereby engage a personal sense of wonder and discovery.

Canadian IYA 2009
IYA2009 activities are taking place all over Canada — locally, regionally and nationally. Canada is proud to be among the 135 countries that are participating in international activities, as well as offering uniquely Canadian programs throughout the year. We are building new partnerships that sustain public interest in astronomy.
